MEMBER GUIDE: PLEASE READ

Welcome to the LAN Party DFOS Space!

This Space is a research hub and community space for LAN Party, the curatorial duo created by myself (Vienna Kim) and Benoit Palop.

If you're here, that's probably because you love the same things we do: video games, digital art, and the internet, and you're interested in what we're up to. :-)

We've thought a lot about what kind of DFOS space we wanted to create. As we soft-launch this private corner of the internet, here's a sort of 'member's guide' so that we can collectively move towards a space that is caring, useful and as interesting as possible for as many people as possible. :-)

First things first, here's what we don't want this space to be:

• Another Discord server
• A chat group where you receive tons of notifications (though chatting is definitely welcome in the 'general' channel only please)
• A place to spam or shill. You can share what you are working on where appropriate, but please refrain from trying to sell or promote things to other people where not sollicited.
• A place for hateful speech. obv.

When navigating the LAN Party DFOS space, please be mindful of the following:

• Chatting with other members should occur in the general channel only.
• news-updates is a channel that only Benoit and I can post into, with news and updates about what we're working on, or things we'd like to share with you all. You can comment on anything we post in this channel. :)
• When posting book reviews in internet-art-library and exhibition citiques in review-bytes, please create a post in the appropriate channel. You cannot share a review via chat message. Other members will be able to comment on your post to engage and ask questions about it, but by making these channels post-only, we hope others will be able to find resources quickly, rather than be inundated with chat messages.
• non-playable-characters is the channel to discuss our first book, Non-Playable Characters. Any one can ask questions or chat freely about the book here. :) And we encourage you to share photos of the book if you have a copy! <3
• research-hub is a space where Benoit and I will post our current research topics, and only we have access to post into this channel. This said, please comment and interact with these posts! We would love for this channel to become a collective research hub, and we eventually intend to collate member contributions into one larger post.

That's it for now! Please enjoy the space, and we hope you find it fun and useful! Feel free to DM us at any time with thoughts or feedback.

Love,
V & B (LAN Party)
